Welcome to Reading AE- Congratulations on making it to the 2nd half of 6th grade!! I'm looking forward to finishing up the year with all of you. If you like to read, you'll love our class.. if you don't love to read, what's wrong with you? Just kidding. I'm hoping to help you learn to love reading.. Heck you do it every day, without even thinking about it: Outside of school, you're reading texts, newspapers, television ads, SnapChats, Tweets, etc.
More importantly, I want you to learn to appreciate literature so that you could:
- Become smarter- that's right, smart people read!
- Increase your vocabulary!
- Learn to have a new form of entertainment!
- Have an open-minded and knowledgeable outlook on the world!
For our class, you will be expected to have:
-A pack of Post-Its- regular sized
-A reading journal
-2 writing implements
- A folder with your reading log
-A silent reading reading book
While we won't have homework very often in the class, if you do miss a session, you will be required to read 30 minutes on your own time, and will have to fill in your reading log. I will also be posting reminders, resources, extra credit assignments, and upcoming project due dates here on the blog- so make sure that you check in regularly.
This is going to be a great winter and spring, I can't wait to get started!
